RSVP is requested so we may plan for a large enough room.

DATE: Sunday, November 8, 1998
TIME: 2:00pm to 5:00pm or as later as needed.
MEETING PURPOSE:
CHDStd Workshops are being given in order to help designers and EDA
professionals understand what CHDStd is, what it is targeted at, and
how it can be applied to EDA systems.
The purpose of the workshops is also to get industry ready to review
the CHDStd draft standard as the CHDStd standard goes through
upcoming SI2, IEEE DASC, and IEC TC93 standardization review cycles.
A number of EDA suppliers involved with SEMATECH, its Member
Companies, and SI2 have been urge to get involved with CHDStd. Our
goal with the upcoming meeting on ICCAD to continue providing the
information needed by EDA suppliers to make a well informed decision
on what approach and schedule they each should take in getting
involved with CHDStd.
TARGET WORKSHOP PARTICIPANTS:
The intended participants for this workshop includes:
Leading edge high performance IC designers
EDA system integrators
EDA application developers
NEWS:
In that past 14 months, 8 such joint workshops and standards
meetings have been held world-wide. The most recent CHDStd IEEE and
IEC TC93 standard meetings were held in conjunction with last
summer's DAC98 in San Francisco, CA, with the FDL meeting in
Lausanne, Switzerland, and with the annual IEC TC93 meeting in
London, England.
Most notably, however, at last summer's DAC98, SEMATECH and SI2
held a by-invitation-only breakfast meeting with some 27 EDA
suppliers attending. The theme of the breakfast meeting was "For
180nm, NOW is the Time to get involved with CHDStd". There was much
interest expressed by EDA suppliers both during that meeting and
during the past several months.
CHDStd BACKGROUND:
The Chip Hierarchical Design System Technical Data (CHDStd) draft
standard includes capability for a number of advanced EDA
capabilities, including support for design planning, accurate
parasitic extraction model, and signal integrity verification.
CHDStd is a open EDA design proposed draft standard upon which high
performance deep submicron chip design tools are integrated.
The CHDStd standard is being developed jointly by SEMATECH and
Silicon Integration Initiative (SI2) and supports a number of
advanced critical EDA requirements including:
- A design data scope that includes connectivity, electrical data,
physical data, timing and constraints;
- Design hierarchy and incremental access to data;
- Central delay architecture;
- Efficient, application-selected views of the data.
