Your points should have been made during the review process.
The standardization process is all about reaching consensus.
The SIG worked very hard to obtain this consensus.
They deserve CONGRATULATION.
The standard has passed the IEEE process achieving > 75% the approval
requirement.
The said standard will also go through the International standardization
through the IEC to be
approved by all participating National Committees.
I wish the group an equal success through the IEC process.

PS This note does not require an answer. There has already been unnecessary
large correspondence in response to simple congratulatory messages.
PS2: I received something in excess of 100 messages from the original
congratulation message. I got so bored with the bikering and irrelevant
argument that I was trashing them without reading. When replying to any
message, would you please consider the recipients. We do not need multiple
copies of the same message. Try to be brief and edit the circulation list
and don't just reply.
