John, first I recognize that likely maintaining the roster of DASC
membership is not the jewel in the crown of your career at the
Computer Society of the IEEE. However, it is my understanding that
this is one of the crosses you bear at this time in your life; and
further it is a focus of some to insure that this matter is dutifully
attended to by all, so here we are.

It is the case that many members of at minimum my working group (1364)
are seeking some way of verifying that their DASC membership is
current. To date I have trusted their word that they indeed have sent
in proper paper work to you to fulfill their obligation to be a member
of the DASC.

All of these folks have assured me that they have sent in their paper
work via FAX or US mail; none have received a confirmation of their
membership.

Separately, I have asked you twice via email to you for a copy of the
current membership of DASC, so that I could verify the membership of
the Working Group members, and have not received a reply; likely it is
in your queue of work.

The first email was dated May 23rd, the second June 23rd; perhaps I
have sent these to the wrong email address <jw.daniel@computer.org>; I
ask DASC members CC'ed with this email to assist me with a correct
email address if indeed this is incorrect.

One suggestion is that each of us rely on the receipt of email
addressed to this stds-dasc@dasc.org alias as a positive indication of
membership; and this has clearly not been sufficient as some have
received email without also being marked as current on the membership
spreadsheet.

Another suggestion is that we ask you to send out an email to each
person who you believe is current as a member of this group.

We might also publish the membership somewhere.

Right now membership seems to be a write only process for the members
of DASC, and it seems that special interest is being focused on the
DASC membership status of the IEEE 1364 members, so coming up with a
transparent way to ascertain individual membership in DASC of IEEE
1364 working group members will help to remove one barrier to this
groups' making forward process on its PAR.

Thanks in advance.
