Dear DASC-SC members,
A quick update regarding p1647 patent issues:
Verisity's general counsel have signed and forwarded a Letter
of Assurance to PatCom yesterday. The letter lists all 10
patents assigned to Verisity to date. Free licensing terms
are agreed to (item D 1 is checked). No modifications were
made to the form (the current version of the LOA form is
dated 11 June 2002).
With this I believe the DASC Quality Metrics are met and
the obligation set forth during the last DASC meeting is
fulfilled.
Best regards,
-- yaron
Relevant extract from the minutes:
Gabe Moretti moved and John Williams seconded that the VLSG Chair obtain
assurances from all known patent holders that they will comply with
subparagraph a of the IEEE-SA patent policy before the Working Group
will begin work on the PAR. Rich Goldman offered and amendment that was
accepted. The amendment directs the VLSG Chair to notify NesCom of this
agreement. In the absence of a quorum of the Steering Committee
members, the Chair took it as a directive from the Sponsor to implement
the above directions.
