Hello:

The Nominations and Appointments Committee (N&A) of the IEEE-SA Board of
Governors is soliciting the names of candidates to serve on the 2005
IEEE-SA Standards Board and its Standing Committees.

The IEEE-SA Standards Board is responsible for:

a) Encouraging and coordinating the development of IEEE standards.
b) Reviewing all proposed IEEE standards to determine whether the proposed
standards conform to the requirements established by the IEEE-SA Standards
Board and whether consensus has been achieved for approval of the proposed
standards.

If you would like to be considered for the 2005 IEEE-SA Standards Board,
please note the following rules that apply to any potential candidate, and
forward a brief, one page bio with contact information to me at the address
provided.

The deadline to respond is 1 June 2004.

The slate of candidates will be forwarded to the IEEE-SA Board of Governors
Nominations and Appointments Committee (N&A) for their review later in the
year, with a final decision to be made in November.

Rules for IEEE-SA Standards Board membership:

1. The time commitment is four meetings in 2005. The IEEE-SA Standards
Board series covers three days. The Standing Committees of the Board (New
Standards Committee, Review Committee, Procedures Committee, Patent
Committee, Audit Committee) meet the first two days of the series and the
Standards Board meets the final day.

2005 Calendar
18-20 March ? Atlanta, GA
7-9 June ? Piscataway, NJ
20-22 September ? Piscataway, NJ
5-7 December ? New York City
4 December ? Awards Ceremony ? New York City (optional)

Attendance is expected al all meetings, with the possibility of your
participation on a Standing Committee as well. This would incur another
day of meetings prior to the Standards Board meeting.

2. This is a non-funded position. Members are expected to fund their
own travel.

3. Members must have an email address, web access, a laptop computer and
a wireless card (if permitted) to bring to the meeting.

The IEEE-SA Standards Board Position Description can be found at the
following website:
http://standards.ieee.org/board/positiondes.html

Review the Position description in light of the basic functions, specific
responsibilities, and accountabilities that this position requires.

In addition to the Position Description, attached is a list of
"Conventions" that apply to Standards Board and Committee participation
that you might find helpful.

Please contact Rona Gertz at r.gertz@ieee.org if you have any questions.

We look forward to your participation in 2005.

Best regards,
IEEE-SA Board of Governors Nominations and Appointments Committee
