Maybe its time we switch to video conferencing. If enough
people have broadband connection, and can use something like
Microsoft Netmeeting, then this would fulfill the need for
face-to-face. People can decide if they want to have their
pictures in the conference for everyone else to see, or not.
TightVNC or VNC would give people a chance to see a demo of
code being run on someone's compiler, or shown around a document
or website to demonstrate their point.

As a default, those who just want to dial in can still
listen to and participate in the discussion.

Maybe we could pioneer for the IEEE and DASC not just audio
conferencing, but video as well, and set another new standard.
