The first video conference within the IEEE standardization that I
attended was in 1986. It had two locations: one in Nice, France (at
IBM) and one on the east coast (also IBM). Since then I attended other
such video conferences under the umbrella of IEEE. The advantage over phone
conferencing is not very big. The main problem is keeping just one
conversation going on and at the same time have everyone participating.
