A nit: I believe that in "3.4.2 Vice-Chair" the intention is represented better by "e.g." than by "i.e.". Regards, Jim Vellenga --------------------------------------------------------- James H. (SED/AASM); Mills, Steve M (Standards); johnwalz@ameritech.net; robby@computer.org Subject: Dear DASC Members, There have been a number of issues raised by DASC members in the past few months questioning actions taken with regard to DASC business. I would like to update you with some of the actions taken in this regard. Esterel and Rosetta Study Groups PARs for these groups have been withdrawn pending reports from the study groups that were initiated at the July 2006 DASC-SC meeting. CPF Study Group The CPF study group has been dissolved. The work which was planned for this group has been transferred to the Low Power Coalition at Si2. This group will decide at some date in the future whether to pursue a path to IEEE standardization. Officer Elections Elections for secretary and treasurer of the DASC-SC were held and completed in October. As previously announced the new officers are Stephen Bailey from Mentor Graphics (secretary) and Karen Bartleson from Synopsys (treasurer). Dominance Issues Questions on dominance of the DASC-SC, DASC, and P1647 were raised. These issues are currently subject to an investigation by the IEEE-SA Standards Board under the direction of its chair, Steve Mills. A discussion of the findings on this issue will be held at the Standards Board meeting on December 6, 2006. Policies and Procedures Because of an update to the P&Ps of the Computer Society in 2005 which is the parent body of the DASC, the DASC P&Ps need to be updated to follow the guidelines of this new document which supersedes the currently approved DASC P&Ps. I have enclosed a marked up copy of the P&Ps received from the Computer Society. These documents will be reviewed at the next DASC-SC meeting. Please read them now and send any comments.
