FW: Agreement signed between IEEE and IEC for Joint Development!

Dear DASC Members,

In the discussion with John Walz at last month's meeting one item mentioned
was working with IEC.  In fact we already work closely with IEC and have a
program for joint standards development.  IEEE recently renewed this
agreement and I am enclosing a statement about the relationship and some of
the procedures agreed to.  We can discuss this at the meeting later today if
there is interest.

I have recently been appointed at Secretary of TC93 which is the group in IEC
that deals with EDA related standards.  In part this was done to ensure
coordination between the two groups.  TC93 which has several internal working
groups is  planning to meet in October in Singapore.  I will keep everyone
posted on any new activity.

I am pleased to announce that IEEE has signed an agreement with IEC to enable
jointly development projects.  It identifies the process in which IEEE
working groups and IEC Technical Committees can jointly develop standards,
and also addresses copyright and distribution.

The agreement is an addendum to the original IEC-IEEE Dual Logo Agreement,
signed in October 2002.

Attached is the Administrative Circular that was sent out from IEC, for your
information.  If you have any questions regarding the agreement, you may
contact either myself or Jodi Haasz (j.haasz@ieee.org)
